A choice is presented with at least two options to choose from, the question is how to make the right decision? We face a lot of different choices everyday, your daily decisions happen often from the subconscious mind. If you make the same decision every day it does not seem to be a choice anymore. These type of decisions are called habits and are also very important. But today I want to talk about the outstanding decisions you sometimes face in life. The ones that seem to be dramatic and hard to make to your career or lifestyle. The ones that make you uncertain and take up lot of mind space. A hard choice is created by two or more alternatives given to you. I am going to focus this text on the situation where you are in the position of choosing between two good alternatives you want to proceed with.
These situation can give us a lot of pressure and because we are emotional creatures this affects our way of thinking. You lose your vision and simply don’t know what to do. The first thing you need to do is calm down! You have to get your mind clear to think through what the alternatives are. A simple trick I use myself is to go on a walk outside in the nature. Surely it always helps to talk trough your situation with a friend or your parents. It can give you different perspectives on their point of view, but remember to make a good decision your mind must be calm. So don’t let the opinions of “others” impact you too much, since it’s your life and you are the main character. A vital part of making a hard choice is to not rush it. The feeling of uncertainty is not really pleasant, but you are still in control. So give yourself some time before you make your final move. Until you don’t have to choose, don’t choose! Try to get a better understanding of your different alternatives and reflect on how they will improve or challenge you in the future. What are the positives and the negatives and will it help you to improve personally?
To improve the quality of your thoughts try to be in an environment where no distractions are around you. Turn off your phone, be alone in your room, shut the lights and let your thoughts do the work. Still don’t feel pressure to rush into a final choice just be. To switch it up find a different location where you also can relax without any distractions, like somewhere in a park or in your garden. We have so many distractions all day long but for a this really leave your phone at home or turn it off completely. Talk to yourself and figure out what is stopping you from making the decision. Are you scared of the consequences, but what if the consequences will make you a better person. Will it improve you or is it going to kill your motivation and confidence. What is your heart trying to tell you, a decision is made from inside so listen to your gut.
The universe will help you!
Whether you believe in God, universal energies, or your inner intuition, there are a few methods that people often use to try to interpret signs or guidance from above. Speak to the universe and ask for help with your decision, the answer often comes through instincts, emotions or unexpected events. For example, if you are thinking about taking a specific job and suddenly meet someone who works there or hear someone talking about the company, this can be seen as a sign from the universe that you are on the right path. If you start feeling a lighter, calmer or a positive feeling inside, it can be a sign that it is the right way.
Often the answers do not come immediately. Give the process time. If you feel stressed or pressured to make a decision, its best to pause, relax and let the guidance come naturally. A common sign that a decision is right according to God or the universe is a feeling of peace. If an option feels heavy, stressful or anxiety-ridden, it may be a sign that it is not right. But if you feel at peace, even if the decision is difficult, it can be an indicator that you are on the right path.
Summary decision making skill
Making a good choice involves a combination of logic, intuition and practical approach. Start by clarifying your values and priorities, make sure that your choice aligns with whats most important to you. Sometimes you need to take a step forward to gain clarity. After making a small choice reflect on how it feels. Consider long-term effects by asking where each option will lead in the future, while also seeking input from others to gain new perspectives.
